Rourkela (Orissa in India), (SVM News), November 20, 2006: Pastor Ashis Kumar Muna of 25 years old is arrested on November 15 for prayed over a sick woman at Jhirpani of Rourkela Steel City in Orissa. Police charged against him force conversion of Hindus to Christianity and the court rejected the Bail petition filed on his behalf and sent him to the jail.

He was pastoring in the Church at Jhirpani of Rourkela Steel City. His father Rev. P.K.Muna is the Senior Pastor at the same Church.

Mr. Hridananda Majhi, the uncle of young pastor, who had experienced healing power by the prayer of his nephew Pastor Ashis Kumar Munha, asked him to go with him to a Hindu family to pray for the lady of the house, who was suffering from TB and kidney problems since several years. Ashish did not know that she was the wife of a VHP Dist. Co-ordinator Mr. Jibardhana Chouhan.

Pastor visited that house alongwith his uncle and told them about the love of our Lord and the healing power by His stripes. Then he started praying. Suddenly the daughters of the sick lady reacted, and claiming that he was forcibly trying to make them Christians. They called out to the neighbours and the police as well. The police arrested Pastor Ashis Kumar Muna and charged with forcefully converting them to Christianity.

Based on the complaint, the Police filed a case bearing no.2204/06 dtd.15.11.06 at Uditnagar Police station of Rourkela against Pastor Ashis Kumar Muna under IPC 448, 354 & 295A & produced him before the Sub-Judge. The Court rejected the Bail petition filed on his behalf & sent him to the Jail. This case is going to be presented on 22.11.06 for further consideration of the said Court.
